Poem Of The Day

Moon Flowers

Written by Lisa DeVinney on July 7, 2017. Posted in poetry

Did you know there’s a flower
That only blooms at night?
It waits until the sun goes down,
And there is little light.
Then as the darkness settles in
Beneath the rising moon,
It then gracefully opens
Its luminescent bloom.
The pure-white of its blossom
And trumpet-like design
Make it appear, at twilight,
To glow along its vine.
A beauty to behold! Yet
Needs darkness to be seen.
How like our own refinement
When trials intervene.
For there are things we only learn
When in our darkest night,
As grace then fully blossoms in
The glow of God’s Sonlight.
So may we not despair when
That darkness crashes in.
Perhaps something will blossom
Before the trial’s end.
For God has sweetly promised
There’s purpose in each test.
And sometimes we need moonlight,
To see we’re truly blessed.
“…but we also rejoice in our afflictions,
because we know that affliction produces endurance,
endurance produces proven character,
and proven character produces hope.
This hope will not disappoint us,
because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts
through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
Romans 5:3-5 HCSB
